Lakezee

The Lakezee is a Japanese lake-shore trout spinning rod series from Palms, built specifically for the "shore slow" technique, casting slow-pitch jigs from the bank or shoreline of still or low-current lakes, then working the retrieve with minimal reel movement to let the jig flutter and glide. Target species are lake trout (himemasu/kokanee and other salmonids in Japanese mountain lakes) but the rod translates to estuary and light surf slow-jigging for anglers outside Japan.

Blanks use an X-wrap carbon construction, carbon sheets rolled diagonally to resist twist and reduce weight while maintaining rigidity in the torsional plane. This reinforcement is consistent across the series and allows the blanks to handle the sustained bend of slow-jig work without losing tracking. Cork grip and natural wood reel seat signal a premium-finish orientation. All models are spinning and carry similar lengths (9'9"), the series differentiates on line/lure weight instead of length.

Six models, all 9'9", in three power tiers each offered in standard and SS (Super Slow?) variants: 9900/9900·SS (lighter, 3–10 lb, 3/16–3/4 oz), 990/990·SS (mid, 3–12 lb, 1/4–7/8 oz), and 991/991·SS (heavier, 6–16 lb, 3/8–1 oz). The SS variants show marginally different lure ceilings, likely reflecting a slightly softer or more progressive tip tune. The consistent 9'9" length across all six rods anchors the lineup in long-distance shore presentations.
