The Sea Rapture is Palms' offshore big-game rod series, designed for boat-based anglers made for tuna (kihada/bluefin), mahi-mahi (shiira), amberjack, and large pelagics in nearshore and bluewater environments. According to the manufacturer's Japanese copy, the series balances a delicate approach when working lures against the raw power demanded when fighting large fish, a tension described as central to the design philosophy. All models use Nanoalloy material throughout the blank with X-Carbonology butt reinforcement (diagonal carbon wrapping to resist torsional flex) and feature Tangle-Free K-guides.
Reel seats use a locknut (LOGR/AN) back-stop system to prevent loosening under load. Shorter casting models (STGS-66ML to STGS-76M) use an uplock reel seat; heavier casting models (STGS-78MH, 81H, 83H+) switch to downlock with BRC butt cap. All jigging models use an offset removable handle for portability. Two-piece casting models use unequal-length sections, keeping packed length under 140cm on every model. The 12-model lineup divides into six offshore casting spinning rods (6'6" ML up to 8'3" H+), four jigging rods (6'2" ML and M+ in both spinning and baitcasting), and two longer baitcasting jigging models.
The ML casting models handle 15-60g lures on PE1.5-3; the tuna-class H+ handles up to 150g on max PE8.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Baitcasting jigging model for anglers preferring conventional retrieve. M+ (80-200g) for deeper water or strong current where heavier jigs are required. Offset handle keeps packed length compact.
Spinning jigging model. Offset handle for portability. ML power (60-150g jigs, PE1-3) for light-jig offshore technique where smaller baitfish imitations produce on pressured grounds.
Shortest casting model in the series. The 6'6" length suits confined deck positions or low-clearance boat setups. ML power with strong butt, useful for technical presentation to pressured mahi or skipjack.
Versatile 7'8" MH covering nearshore tuna, large mahi, and amberjack. 30-100g lure range (from manufacturer spec) bridges the gap between lighter casting models and the heavy tuna class.
Tuna-class designation. H power rated to max PE6 (approx 60lb braid). Designed to cast heavy plugs with smooth load-through taper and generate lifting power against kihada and hiramasa.
Series maximum. H+ with max PE8; handles up to 150g lures. BRC butt cap. Specialized for distance casting of large diving pencils to bluewater tuna schools.
