EGINGER PACK SE

The Prox EGINGER PACK SE is a travel-oriented five-piece eging (squid jigging) spinning rod made for shore-based anglers who commute to fishing spots by train or need a compact rod for travel. The "pack" designation refers to the five-section breakdown, which collapses to a storage size of 53.5 cm (EPS805ML) or 57 cm (EPS865ML), short enough for overhead compartments and backpacks. A dedicated semi-hard rod case is included. The rod appeals to urban Japanese anglers who fish the coast after work or on short trips without a vehicle.

Blanks are 97% carbon fiber construction with parallel joints, which Prox notes maintain proper fit and feel compared to traditional over-ferrule designs. Medium-light (ML) action throughout the lineup accommodates egi sizes 2.0–3.5, covering the most common squid jig weights used in shore eging. Both models accept PE line 0.6–1.2, appropriate for a wide range of wind and current conditions on open shore and harbor eging situations. A tip diameter of 1.4 mm (EPS865ML) keeps sensitivity intact despite the multi-piece construction.

The two-model lineup is organized strictly by length: EPS805ML at 7'10" (240 cm) and EPS865ML at 8'5" (257 cm). Both are single-power (ML), two-piece-assembled five-section rods. The shorter suits compact shore spots and is lighter to carry; the longer provides more reach for casting beyond shoreline structure. No significant internal power or action variation between models, length is the only differentiator.
