RIVERING AYU

The Prox Rivering Ayu (RIVERING AYU) is a lure-fishing rod series designed specifically for sweetfish (ayu/鮎) made for in Japanese rivers using artificial lures, a departure from traditional ayu fishing methods that use live decoy fish or flies. The series makes ayu accessible to tackle-and-reel anglers by pairing standard spinning or casting tackle with ayu-shaped lures. Target users are freshwater lure anglers new to ayu fishing who prefer familiar gear over the specialized long rods of traditional ayu methods.

Blanks are ML power, 9–10 feet long, rated for 3–10 lb line and 3/32–3/4 oz lures, a spec that covers the ayu lure range while providing enough length to work mid-river currents. Both spinning (MLS) and casting (MLC) variants are available at each length, which is unusual for a Japanese ayu rod; casting/baitcasting rods in this context allow right-hand retrieve on a baitcast reel, a preference for some river anglers. All models are 1-piece.

Four models: 9'1" (RRA902) and 10' (RRA1002), each in spinning (MLS) and casting (MLC) configuration. The 9'1" models are the standard entry point; the 10' adds reach for larger rivers or wading situations requiring longer drifts. Power and lure ratings are identical across all four, the lineup varies only in length and reel-seat style, not technique scope.
