The Prox Semewaza Tenya Tachiuo Type-K (攻技テンヤ太刀魚タイプK) is a boat rod series engineered for tenya-style cutlassfish (tachiuo/太刀魚) fishing in Japanese coastal waters, particularly Osaka Bay. Tenya fishing uses a specific lead-head jig (tenya) weighted at 40–60 units (approx. 15–22g) rigged with strip bait, fished vertically from anchored or slow-drifting boats. The Type-K designation indicates all-K (KR concept) guide frames throughout, which reduces tangles with thin PE braid, a practical benefit for beginners and repetitive jigging.
Target species is almost exclusively cutlassfish. Blanks are 82% carbon with a 2-piece construction at 175cm (5'9") and 195cm (6'5"). The rod's action system is the defining spec: the STTCK models (standard kake type) use a 9:1 tip-heavy action for aggressive hook-setting on biting fish; the STTCKK models are a 7:3 action variant for a more moderate presentation suited to feeding-stage fish. At 175cm the rod weighs approximately 148g. Carbon content, guide spec, and action ratios are well-documented from the manufacturer and independent column write-ups.
Four models cover two lengths (175cm/195cm) and two action types (9:1 kake/STTCK and 7:3 kwase/STTCKK). The 175cm models suit compact boat decks and shallower fishing; the 195cm extends reach in deeper water or when a longer lever helps animate the tenya. The kake-action rods prioritize hooking speed; the kwase-action rods let the fish eat more confidently. Selecting between them depends on fish behavior on the day.

A closer look at notable models.
175cm, 9:1 kake (aggressive hook-set) action. Extremely tip-sensitive; suited for active, snapping bites where a fast strike is required. Lightest at approximately 148g. The standard starting-point model.
175cm, 7:3 kwase (feeding/presentation) action. Softer tip encourages fish to take the bait fully before the angler sets the hook, preferred on days when cutlassfish are short-striking.
195cm, 9:1 kake action. Longer reach adds leverage in deeper drift situations. Same aggressive hook-setting bias as the 175 but for anglers needing greater depth coverage.
195cm, 7:3 action. Maximum reach with softer presentation bias. Most forgiving model in the lineup for anglers still developing their tenya timing.
