The Prox FX Syakuri Kobune FE (FXシャクリ小船FE) is a short boat rod designed for close-range vertical jigging (syakuri/しゃくり = jigging motion) from small boats (kobune = small vessel) in inshore and nearshore Japanese waters. Primary applications include sea bream (madai) made for with vertical jigs, and vertical egging (squid fishing with egg-sinker rigs). The rod is compact, 4'3" to 4'11", suited to crowded small-vessel decks where long rods are impractical.
The blanks use a glass solid or glass composite construction, which provides the parabolic flex needed to transmit the jigging cadence and absorb the sharp runs of sea bream and inshore fish without the brittleness of high-modulus graphite. A trigger reel seat (trigger reel seat = baitcasting-style pistol grip common on Japanese boat rods) is fitted, improving grip during repetitive jigging motions. All four models are listed as casting-style (trigger-grip) despite the short lengths.
Four models at two lengths, 4'3" (FSKFM13/FSKFS13) and 4'11" (FSKFM15/FSKFS15), each with what appears to be a designation split (M vs. S suffix suggesting medium vs. Soft, or mono vs. Solid variants). The 4'3" models suit confined boat decks; 4'11" gives slightly more hook-setting leverage. The length range is narrow, this is a purpose-narrow lineup for one technique in one fishing context.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest model with M designation, likely a moderately stiff variant for heavier jig weights or firmer hook sets on deeper fish. Most compact option in the series.
Same length as FSKFM13 but S designation, softer action suited for bite detection with lighter jig heads or when presenting more subtle jigging cadences to sea bream.
