A JDM ikada (raft/floating platform) fishing rod from Prox, the FX SEMEWAZA IKADA SE is a second-edition all-rounder designed for chinu (black sea bream / Acanthopagrus schlegelii) fishing from fixed offshore rafts, a popular Japanese near-shore fishing method where anglers fish near-vertical presentations with bait on or near the bottom. The 7:3 action (tip-to-butt stiffness ratio in Japanese rod convention) provides a soft tip for detecting subtle nibbles from cautious chinu while maintaining sufficient butt power to extract fish from structure.

Design features include a red-wrapped tip for visual bite detection, critical in ikada fishing where anglers monitor the tip for small deflections. The guide placement is optimised for near-vertical fishing mechanics. The grip is designed to maximize the rod's action characteristics during strike. Length range runs short (4'5" to 5'11") reflecting the close-quarters, vertical-drop nature of raft fishing where long rods are impractical.

Three models at 135 cm (4'5"), 165 cm (5'5"), and 180 cm (5'11"), all spinning designation but functionally vertical-drop rods used with small reels. Length selection is based on platform height and fish depth. All use the same construction; no power split indicated. The SE suffix denotes second edition.
