A dedicated kawahagi (thread-sail filefish / monacanthid) rod from Prox's budget-accessible game lineup, designed for the demanding Japanese technique of detecting kawahagi bites, one of the more technically challenging forms of Japanese boat fishing. The fish is small-mouthed and renowned for stripping bait without triggering hook contact; the technique requires extreme sensitivity and a practiced rod-lifting motion.
The ST2 designation indicates a glass solid tip on a 30T carbon body (SSS, sensitive sensor shaft), a construction pairing that delivers sensitivity from the carbon mid and butt while the glass tip absorbs and telegraphs the kawahagi's subtle nibble. Fuji ACS-16 reel seat. Guides: CCLGAT top plus CCKTAG and CCKWAG ring guides, corrosion-resistant guides suited to boat saltwater use. Total length 180cm (approximately 5'11"), center-cut 2-piece.
Rod weight approximately 94g. Two-model lineup both at 5'11" (KWGS218M and KWGS218MH) in M and MH power respectively, the MH variant handles larger hook rigs and heavier sinker combinations common in deeper kawahagi grounds. Both casting configuration. The narrow power split and identical length indicate a lineup organized around sinker weight and bottom-depth scenario, not technique variation.

MH power variant, suited to heavier sinker rigs when fishing deeper kawahagi grounds where more weight is needed to maintain bottom contact. Otherwise same 180cm length and glass-solid-tip construction as the M.
