The MICRO BASS FE (Final Edition) is Prox's compact mobile bass rod, a Japanese domestic market (JDM) series based on the concept of ultraportable lure bass fishing. The target angler is a Japanese urban or mobile angler who wants to fish bass with a rod that fits in a backpack or bicycle bag, a common fishing style in Japan for small ponds, urban canals, and accessible freshwater spots. Blanks are approximately 81% carbon content with a collapsed length around 35–36 cm across both models, achieved through 7-piece telescopic construction.
This is a mobile rod first, a performance rod second. Lure ranges target small plugs, ned rigs, small jigs, and finesse soft plastics appropriate for Japanese bass fishing. The baitcasting variant uses a trigger grip; the spinning model a conventional spinning layout. Both collapse to near-identical lengths for portability. [JDM product; English-language information is limited, details drawn from Japanese retailer listings and proxinc. co. jp.] The two models are organized by presentation style at the same length range: MBF60MLTC is a baitcasting (trigger) version rated for 8–12 lb line and 3/16–1/2 oz lures, while MBF60MLTS is the spinning equivalent rated for 4–8 lb line and 1/16–1/4 oz lures.
The baitcasting model handles heavier work; the spinning model is oriented toward finesse. Both are ML power.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The baitcasting variant handles heavier finesse to medium bass presentations, small jigs, ned rigs on heavier heads, and compact hard baits that suit a trigger-grip delivery. The 8–12 lb rating allows heavier fluorocarbon leaders than the spinning sibling.
The spinning variant is tuned to lighter finesse work, drop shots, light ned rigs, and small soft plastics on 1/16 to 1/4 oz heads using 4–8 lb mono or fluorocarbon. The extra 2 inches of deployed length versus the casting model reflects a different blank taper required for spinning action.
