SX PRIMONELLA KIHADA
Short heavy casting rod for yellowfin tuna boat fishing
The SX PRIMONELLA KIHADA is a single-model casting rod built for kihada, yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares, 黄肌), targeted from a boat with casting lures or surface poppers. Kihada is a premium offshore target along Japan's Pacific coast, and the Primonella series name appears in Prox's offshore and deep-game rod segment. The SX prefix indicates an upper-spec build within the Primonella line. At 5'11" (approximately 1.80 m) and H power the rod is short and stout, a profile characteristic of stand-up or short-blank boat casting rods used when made for large pelagics at close quarters, where a full-length blank becomes unmanageable during the fight.
The HC model code (H power, Casting) confirms baitcasting application, consistent with the heavier PE lines and large-capacity low-profile reels standard in Japanese kihada boat fishing. Carbon construction details are not fully documented in available English-language sources. The lineup is a single model: SPKM180HC at 5'11", casting, H power. Comparable kihada boat-casting rods from Shimano (Bandit Kihada, BeastMaster Kihada) confirm this is an established JDM offshore category; Prox's entry is a Japan-domestic specialist with limited international retail presence.
