Tailwalk JIGFORCE SSD is a Japanese offshore vertical jigging series built for speed jigging and slow-pitch jigging made for pelagic species. Spanish mackerel, amberjack, yellowtail, and similar mid-water to deep-water serves. The SSD designation in Tailwalk's naming convention indicates an upgraded (Super Special Design) version of the base JIGFORCE line. All models are specialized boat rods for vertical presentations. Blanks use mid- to high-modulus carbon construction with a parabolic character on the slow-pitch models and a faster, stiffer response on the speed-jigging models.
The glass-composite element in some models absorbs impact during hard strikes and provides the flex needed for slow-pitch rhythmic jigging. Guide frames are double-foot deep-press stainless steel in spiral (fuji) configuration. Standard for vertical jigging to manage torque and line routing on spiraled guides. Jig capacity runs 60–240g depending on model. Nine models: four casting (C5103, C5104, and two more), five spinning. Lengths cluster at 5'10" and 6'1" for the standard speed models; the 6'5" models (S650-LJ, S651-LJ, S652-LJ) with "LJ" suffix are slow-pitch light-jigging variants with softer (S) action.
The casting models intended anglers using overhead/conventional baitcasting jigging reels; the spinning models suit spinning reel users. The LJ suffix models are a distinct sub-group within the series.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The casting (conventional/overhead reel) 5'10" model for drift jigging and speed jigging. Short length is intentional for boat use. Reduces leverage fatigue during high-cadence retrieves. The overhead reel format suits anglers who prefer conventional jigging reels for high-speed applications.
Described as a current-attack power short model for speed jigging in strong current situations. The R (regular/moderate) action at 6'1" provides backbone for working jigs against current while maintaining enough tip sensitivity to detect strikes.
The "LJ" (light jigging) slow-pitch variant at 6'5" with a full-parabolic S (slow) action. Designed for slow-pitch rhythmic jigging at moderate depths; the softness loads the blank during jigging and provides the rebound needed to animate slow-pitch jigs.
