The Tailwalk KEISON RUNSBACK SPEC-N is a three-rod spinning series for native trout fishing in Japan and comparable freshwater environments, supervised by Yuki Nakano. A northern Japan trout specialist. The series covers a wider range of fishing situations than the expedition-focused SPEC-K, spanning from small stream work to large river presentations for trout and sakuramas. The target angler is an intermediate to advanced native trout angler across varied water types.
All three rods are 2-piece spinning rods with cork handles and a double down-locking reel seat. The series unites three distinct rod characters under one name: a short, fast-action small-stream model; a mid-range river rod with regular action; and a long, heavy-duty river rod also in regular action. This breadth makes the lineup more of a curated cross-water collection than a simple length progression. Each rod addresses a meaningfully different fishing scenario.
Rod weight scales from 90g (S56ML) to 138g (S82M) to 145g (S90MH). The S56ML at 5'6" Fast/ML is the compact small-stream specialist; the S82M at 8'2" Regular/M handles standard river scenarios up to 18g; the S90MH at 9' Regular/MH is the longest and most powerful, rated to 28g for larger water and heavier presentations including sakuramas. All three are 2-piece with identical handle hardware. [JDM series.]
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The compact fast-action model for confined stream environments. At 5'6" and 90g, meaningfully shorter and lighter than the rest of the series. Built for tight quarters, overhanging cover, and situations where accuracy and feel outweigh the need for casting distance.
The mid-range workhorse at 8'2"/138g for standard-width rivers. Regular action and M power handle minnows and spoons in the mid-weight range (max 18g). The balance between reach and handling makes it the most broadly applicable model in the series.
The longest and most powerful model at 9'/145g/max 28g. Reach and MH power address large rivers where heavier lures or additional leverage for sakuramas and larger trout are required. Retailers list this as a specific sakuramas option within the SPEC-N range.
