Tailwalk's second-generation shore big-game spinning series, named for the Okinawan word for big-game fishing from land. Built for shore-based anglers made for giant trevally (GT), yellowfin tuna, large amberjack, dogtooth tuna, and other powerful pelagic or reef species from rocky shorelines, jetties, and headlands. The XXH and XH power ratings and lure weights imply 60–120g metal jigs and large plugs. Target angler is an experienced shore jigging or shore popping practitioner.
X-Wrap carbon fiber braid construction from tip to butt handle suppresses lateral blank twist during high-load casts and extended fights, critical when fighting a 20kg+ GT from shore. Fuji K-series SiC guides, Fuji DPS reel seat. Rubber butt cap designed for rocky shore protection. Regular action (R) across the full lineup, a long, progressive load curve that builds energy for distance casting with heavy plugs and jigs and helps absorb the sudden surges of large pelagic fish.
The Ver. 2 designation reflects a blank and guide upgrade over the original Manbika. Seven spinning models, all regular action, ranging 10'–12'6": 100XH, 100XXH, 105XXH PLUGGING SP, 110XH, 110XXH, 120XXH, 126XXH. Power is XH or XXH throughout. Length increases give additional casting leverage; the 105XXH PLUGGING SP model is specifically named for surface plug work. No shorter or lighter models exist, the lineup is cohesive around one discipline at maximum intensity.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Entry-level in the series by power and length. XH (instead of XXH) makes this the relative finesse option, suitable for smaller GT, large barracuda, or 60–80g jigging from more accessible rocky shorelines where a 12' rod would be impractical.
The only model specifically designated for surface plug work (PLUGGING SP). The 10'5" length sits between the standard 10' and 11' options, possibly optimized for the loading arc required by large cup-faced poppers and pencil baits. Differs from the standard XXH models in intended lure type.
Longest model in the series at 12'6". Extra length increases casting distance from high cliff or headland positions and provides more leverage to keep fish out of reef structure. Suited for open-water shore GT scenarios where range matters as much as power.
