The Tailwalk MB Sprint Stick is part of the brand's Master Build (MB) series, made-in-Japan rods developed with specific model advisers and built to a higher spec than standard catalog offerings. The Sprint Stick is a shore-based pelagic spinning series designed for offshore species reached from land: yellowtail (buri), amberjack (kanpachi), and large tuna encountered from capes, elevated promontories, and active current points. Model adviser Charmas Kitamura's input informed the blank design toward a rod that can fight large, fast fish on heavy PE line while not breaking down under the sustained load.

Blanks are described as low-modulus graphite with an emphasis on impact resistance and smooth, powerful bending under load, a deliberate trade from high-modulus stiffness toward the controlled flex needed to fight powerful pelagic fish without catastrophic tip failure. The 711H is cited explicitly for tuna applications at approximately 100g plug weights with 12kg maximum drag. Components are high-quality; the MB tier implies Fuji guides and fittings at minimum. Five spinning models from 7'2" to 8'2", all regular action, M to H power.

The 74L is the light end for smaller pelagics or casting conditions requiring finesse presentation; the 82MH is the longest reach option for maximizing distance from elevated shore positions. The 711H and 711HH share identical stated length and action, HH likely indicates an extra-heavy reinforcement within the H power range.

A closer look at notable models.

74L Spinning · 7'4" · L · R action

The light outlier in an otherwise heavy-duty lineup, L power at 7'4" for smaller pelagics, lighter lures, or situations where distance casting with a lighter presentation is needed. May also suit schooling fish where a softer rod absorbs the initial surge better.

711H Spinning · 7'11" · H · R action

The primary tuna-focused build: handles ~100g plugs, 12kg max drag. Regular action at H power gives enough bend to fight large fish without lock-up; 7'11" is a practical shore casting length for overhead clearance on rocky cape positions.

711HH Spinning · 7'11" · H · R action

Same stated length and action as the 711H; HH designation suggests extra-heavy reinforcement within H-class, likely made for heavier drag settings or larger fish. The distinction may involve blank wall thickness or reinforcement at butt section.
