METALZON SSD

METALZON SSD is Tailwalk's light to medium jigging and squid/ikametal series for boat fishing. 'SSD' refers to the spiral guide specification (solid-tip or semi-solid designs with spiral/fuji-style guides). The series serves Japanese domestic market anglers fishing ikametal (vertical squid jigging), omorig (a hook-above-weight squid system), and light inshore jigging from a boat. International buyers also use these for light jigging, light rockfishing, and finesse offshore work. Blank construction varies by model: solid-tip tubular blanks for ikametal models (vibration detection over long range), full-solid blanks for omorig models.

The tip section on ikametal models is colored neon green and white for visual bite detection. Tailwalk's original Z-Shape reel seat design provides a firm grip with finger-on-blank feel. Some models include an extension rear grip with two-position adjustment, short for casting style, long for underarm rodholding during vertical presentation. All models are casting (trigger handle), including the spinning-designated S60-64MH and S67MH/S70H, which in this context refers to the blank orientation instead of a traditional spinning reel seat.

The 11-model lineup covers 5'2"–7' in casting and 6'–7' in spinning-style configurations. Power runs L to H. The shorter models (5'2", 5'8") with MH power and FSL (fast-slow) action are compact boat rods for overhead-style vertical jigging. Longer models (6'8", 7') provide more tip sensitivity for lighter presentations or surface casting at anchor.
