The Tailwalk MICRO GAMER SSD is a Japanese UL spinning series built for micro-lure finesse game. Light rockfish (mebaru, カサゴ), perch, small trout, and similar species targeted with tiny jig heads, small minnows, and drop-shot rigs weighing under 10 g. It is part of Tailwalk's SSD (Super Solid Design) line, which emphasizes lightweight blank construction and a proprietary Z-SHAPE reel seat for reduced weight and improved grip feel during extended light-line sessions.
Blanks are lightweight carbon tubular construction with a fast action, providing crisp tip response needed to impart movement to micro lures while still transmitting light bites. The Z-SHAPE reel seat is a Tailwalk-original fitment that positions the reel closer to the blank for enhanced sensitivity. All three models are 2-piece spinning rods. The lineup spans 6'6", 6'10", and 7'4", all UL power, fast action.
S66UL is the shortest, suited to confined docks or tight rock fishing. S610UL at 88 g is the mid-length general-purpose model balancing casting distance and control. S74UL at 7'4" and 93 g is the longest, favoring distance casts on open shorelines.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest rod in the series. Intended for technical micro-lure presentation in close-quarters situations. Dock pilings, rock edges, and small impoundments. Where reduced length improves lure placement accuracy over longer alternatives.
Longest model at 93 g. Suits open-bank or jetty fishing where additional casting reach matters more than compact handling, and where swinging light rigs away from structure benefits from the extra lever length.
