The RIZE SHOOTER SSD is Tailwalk's shore jigging and shore plugging rod built for casting metal jigs, stickbaits, and poppers from rocky coastlines and breakwaters. Target species are primarily pelagic, yellowtail, tuna, GT, within range of shore-based casters. The SSD designation refers to a blank geometry that keeps the butt and mid-section stiff for load transfer while allowing the tip to flex enough for realistic plug action and accurate jig movement. All six models are spinning rods.
The blank is described as strong with high breaking strength; the tip-down taper produces soft tip behavior that gives poppers their bubbly surface action and sinking minnows their dive, while the stiff lower sections handle braided line shock loads during long fights. Aluminum grip components are used to counterbalance the heavier blank, reducing perceived weight on extended casting sessions. Guides are rated for heavy braided line. The ML/M models are intended for light shore jigging and plugging; MH and H for standard shore jigging with heavier jigs.
Lengths run 9'6" to 10', with the S96MH as the compact option and the pair of 10' models at M and MH being the main lineup. P3 suffix denotes 3-piece travel-friendly construction on the S100M-P3 and S100MH-P3. Powers span MH to H for the two 10-footers without the P3 designation; the S910H at 9'10" is the heaviest single-piece model for maximum power output.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest and heaviest single-piece model. Prioritizes power over length for situations requiring maximum backbone to turn large pelagic fish in fast current or from high cliff positions.
3-piece 10-foot travel version at M power. Covers light shore jigging and small plugs while packing down for transport. The P3 construction adds a break point but the regular action remains consistent with the standard model.
3-piece travel counterpart at MH power. Steps up to heavier jigs and larger plugs while keeping the portability of P3 format, suited for anglers who travel to productive shore jigging venues.
