A JDM boat jigging series from Tailwalk made for sakuramas (cherry salmon / masu salmon / Oncorhynchus masou) in offshore and deep-water applications common in Hokkaido and northern Japan sea fisheries. Cherry salmon jigging requires precise jig action at depth with the rod absorbing the shock of a strong, fast fish, the full-solid blank design serves both needs. Jig range up to 150 g (C652) covers the heavy end of cherry salmon jigging. All three blanks are full-solid carbon, a Japanese-market approach that prioritizes tip recoil sensitivity and reduces hook pull compared to tubular blanks.
Guides are set in spiral configuration to reduce line contact with the blank under load, lower total guide count, and shed weight. The resulting rod feels more direct when animating jigs. Cork grip with champagne-gold aluminum trim is a Tailwalk aesthetic signature. TZ designates the Torzite-ring guide variant, Torzite is noted for low friction and high durability with braid. Three models share a 6'5" length but differ in power/jig weight class. C650 (class 0) handles lightest jigs from ~80 g with a very delicate tip; C651 (class 1) is the all-rounder at ~100 g and covers the widest jig-weight spread; C652 (class 2) carries heavier butt power for 120–180 g jigs in deeper or faster water.
All are casting (baitcast) format, standard for Japanese deep boat jigging.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Lightest power in the series. Optimised for sub-100 g jigs or applying gentle action to heavier jigs. Most sensitive tip, suited when fish are selective or biting short. Limited deep-water utility due to lighter butt power.
Class 1, the versatile mid-model, shaped around ~100 g jigs with flexibility for a wide range. Tailwalk identifies this as the starting point for anglers unfamiliar with the series. Absorbs fish-fight shock while maintaining responsiveness.
Class 2, stronger butt for 120–180 g jigs and deep, fast-tide scenarios. Quick tip recoil with extra backbone to move fish from depth. The choice for anglers fishing deeper water or heavy current over the other two models.
