The Tailwalk Tai Game TZ (New Gen, 2022 revision) is the flagship tairubber (rubber jig tai fishing) rod series from Tailwalk, built for boat-based red snapper and related species in Japanese waters. Tairubber is a drop-and-retrieve lure technique made for madai (red sea bream) and similar reef species using a rubber-skirted jig with a slow parabolic retrieve. The series serves experienced boat anglers who prioritize full solid blank sensitivity, including current feel and bottom touch detection, over casting convenience.

All rods use Full Solid blanks throughout, which produce a smooth parabolic curve under load, absorbing fight shocks and reducing hook pulls compared to tubular designs. The 1&Half (one-and-a-half piece) joint positions the break at the butt section, easing transport while keeping the tip section uninterrupted. Baitcasting models use Fuji TORZITE ring guides in T2 titanium frames set in spiral configuration, reducing guide count and total weight. Baitcasting models receive Fuji PULS reel seats; spinning models carry Fuji IPS.

Rod weights are 115–130 g. Six models split into four baitcasting (C prefix) and two spinning (S prefix). Baitcasting models run 6'0"–7'1" in XUL and UL power, max lure weights 120–150 g. The XUL C60XUL is a compact boat-friendly short model for crowded party-boat scenarios. Spinning models run 6'5"–6'6" L and ML, max 180–200 g lure, built specifically for the spinning tairubber style where the faster line drop speed is an advantage in competitive or deep conditions.

A closer look at notable models.

C60XUL/FSL Casting · 6' · XUL

The shortest model at 6'0" XUL, added in the New Gen update. Designed for crowded party-boat decks where a shorter rod reduces tangles with neighbors. Ultra-slim solid blank maximizes short-strike detection and hookup rate on small madai.

S65L/FSL Spinning · 6'5" · L

Spinning model for fast-drop tairubber technique; uses free-spool spinning retrieve to outpace other anglers' jigs to the target depth in competitive situations. L power handles up to 180 g jig and 1.0 PE line.

S66ML/FSL Spinning · 6'6" · ML

The heavier of the two spinning models; ML handles up to 200 g jig weight and is suited to deeper water or stronger current where heavier jigs are needed to reach or hold bottom.
