The Carbon Inshore is Ugly Stik's attempt to move upmarket with a 24-ton graphite (Ugly Tech) construction, a significant departure from the brand's traditional fiberglass-reinforced blanks. It serves inshore saltwater species (redfish, speckled trout, flounder) in coastal bay and flat environments, sold as a sensitivity-oriented rod that retains the Ugly Stik reputation for durability. The intended angler is a value-focused inshore fisherman who wants a step above the GX2 or Elite without moving to a premium brand.
The blank uses 24-ton graphite with a solid graphite tip for bite sensitivity, one of the key spec calls distinguishing it from lower-tier Ugly Stik models. Ugly Tuff one-piece stainless steel guides eliminate insert loss, a practical feature for anglers running braid. Fuji reel seat. Premium cork foregrip with shrink tube rear handle for wet-grip security. The 7-year warranty is standard for Ugly Stik. All models are one-piece construction, which limits travel and transport options. The XF (extra-fast) action on most models is aggressive for inshore fishing, suggesting a sensitivity-over-feel design priority.
Eight spinning models, one-piece only. Lengths are 6'6", 7', and 7'6". Three power classes: ML, M, and MH. The ML tier has three lengths (6'6", 7', 7'6"), as does the M tier; a single 7' MH model closes out the lineup. All ML and M models are extra-fast action; the MH is fast. The lineup covers most standard inshore spinning applications but lacks longer rods for exposed surf or pier fishing.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Only MH model and only fast (not XF) action in the series. The 12–20 lb line class serves larger redfish, bull reds, or snook where medium and ML models lack the power to turn fish in structure.
Lightest line rating in the series. XF action and light line suits clear-water speckled trout and small redfish applications with lighter jig heads. The 6 lb floor is unusually low for inshore work and suggests light-braided presentations.
