Catfish Casting Rod

The Ugly Stik Catfish Casting Rod is a specialized baitcasting series for freshwater catfish anglers who fish with heavy weights and natural baits, cut bait, live bait, or prepared stinkbait, from bank, boat, or pier. The rod addresses the specific demands of catfishing: the need to cast heavy terminal rigs at distance, detect the varied pickup behavior of channel, blue, and flathead catfish, and generate the leverage to control large fish in current or structure. It targets catfish anglers across a broad skill range who want a durable, species-specific tool at an accessible price. Blanks use Ugly Stik's Ugly Tech construction, a graphite-and-fiberglass composite that balances sensitivity (graphite contribution) with impact resistance and flexibility under load (fiberglass contribution).

The Clear Tip, Ugly Stik's signature through-the-tip blank extension, adds durability at the most stress-prone point on the rod. Ugly Tuff one-piece stainless steel guides are corrosion resistant and eliminate insert pop-outs, a practical concern when rods are dragged across bank structure or used in wet conditions. EVA grips with rubber gimbal provide comfort during extended bank sessions. Both models are MH power with moderate-fast action and rated for 15–30 lb line, covering the full range of practical catfish rigs. The lineup differentiates by length and piece count: USCACAT701MH at 7' one-piece and USCACAT802MH at 8' two-piece.

The 7' one-piece is a standard catfish casting length for boat or close-range bank fishing where portability is less critical. The 8' two-piece adds reach for bank fishing, longer rods keep line above bank vegetation and allow heavier sinkers to be swung farther, and breaks down for transport.
