Tiger
Heavy-duty casting and spinning rods for large freshwater and inshore/offshore saltwater species, Ugly Tech construction
The Ugly Stik Tiger is a general heavy-duty rod series intended for large freshwater and nearshore/offshore saltwater species, catfish, sturgeon, muskie, grouper, snapper, shark, and cobia. It carries the brand's signature Ugly Tech graphite/fiberglass composite construction and Clear Tip design, which blends fiberglass into the tip section for durability and fighting bend, while retaining graphite sensitivity in the lower blank. This is gear for anglers who need a tough, affordable rod that handles sustained heavy loads and rough handling conditions.
Ugly Tuff one-piece stainless steel guide frames resist corrosion and abuse. Fighting-length EVA grips with rubber gimbal accommodate rod holders and fighting belts. Reel seat uses conventional stainless-cushioned hood design. Backed by a 7-year warranty, which is unusually strong for the price tier. The model numbers in the lineup (1397xxx) are SKU identifiers instead of descriptive codes, limiting pre-purchase model identification without a catalog lookup.
Five models: two spinning at 7' (1397904, 1397905) and three casting, 7' M (1397908), 7' MH (1397910), and 8' ML (1397911). The 8' ML casting model (1397911, 12–30 lb line) appears positioned for longer-reach bottom fishing or lighter inshore casting. Precise power designations for the spinning models were not confirmed in available sources.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 5 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
