Abu Garcia Beast is a mixed casting and spinning series built for large-lure applications made for bass (swimbaits, A-rigs), pike, musky, and select inshore species. The series launched alongside Beast reels in a coordinated rod-reel system. Anglers here are those throwing big baits who want a step up from general bass tackle without moving into full musky-specialist territory. Blanks use 30-ton graphite with Powerlux 200 resin system and carbon-wrapped butt sections to boost durability and sensitivity.
Guides are stainless steel with zirconium inserts. Spinning models are one-piece; casting models are two-piece with a secure ferrule. Price sits around $180–$230 depending on length. The Beast series does not reach the XXH/130 lb+ territory of true musky-dedicated series; the heaviest casting models top at XH with 15–30 lb line. Nine models: five casting (BSTSB and BSTM suffix), four spinning (BSTS). Spinning models cluster at 7'–7'6" in ML through MH power, covering general swimbait and reaction bait spinning applications.
Casting models span from 7'5" MH to 9'5" XXH, with the two BSTM models (8'6" H, 9'5" XXH) representing the musky/big-water end of the lineup. The middle casting group (BSTSB) at 7'5"–8' bridges the bass and pike applications.
