The Bull Bay Infantry is Bull Bay's entry-level inshore spinning and casting series, based on 24-ton carbon fiber blanks with SS316 marine-grade guides. It serves budget-conscious inshore saltwater anglers who want functional saltwater-rated components, specifically the 316-grade stainless versus the more common 304-grade, without flagship pricing. Bull Bay manufactures in Florida and positions the Infantry as suitable for both freshwater bass work and inshore flats fishing.
Blanks are 24-ton carbon with fast action across all 12 models. Guides are SS316 marine grade on all models for corrosion resistance in saltwater. Reel seat is a standard configuration. Grips are custom EVA/composite cork blend instead of full cork. A standard BBR round hook keeper is fitted. Line ratings organize into three tiers: 5-10lb (ML), 6-12lb (M and MH variants), and 8-17lb (MH heavier). The series does not include lure weight specs on manufacturer listings.
Twelve models cover lengths from 6'2" to 7'6" in spinning and casting configurations. Three line-class tiers correspond loosely to redfish and trout (5-10lb), general inshore (6-12lb), and heavier applications including snook and larger redfish (8-17lb and 10-20lb). Casting models extend to a 7'3" 10-20lb option (BBRIF20-73BC) for longer-range baitcasting. Spinning models top out at 7'6" in MH, providing extra reach for sight-casting on open flats.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Lightest and shortest casting model. ML power with 5-10lb line suits finesse inshore casting presentations for speckled trout and small redfish with light jigs and soft plastics.
MH casting model in the middle line class. Heavier blank provides backbone for jerkbaits and larger soft plastics while staying within the 6-12lb range appropriate for slot redfish.
Standard-length MH casting model for heavier inshore work. The 7' MH combination is a common choice for live-bait casting and heavier artificial presentations for snook and bull redfish.
Heaviest and longest casting model. 10-20lb line range with MH power at 7'3" serves large fish or situations requiring heavier braid; the extra length aids distance on open water.
Longest spinning model. 7'6" MH suits sight-casting to redfish on open flats where extra reach extends effective range; spinning tackle allows easier long-cast loading versus baitcast at this power level.
