The Bull Bay LMG (Largemouth Game) is Bull Bay's dedicated freshwater bass baitcasting rod series. Despite being sold as a freshwater line, Bull Bay constructs the LMG with saltwater-grade hardware, marine-grade SS316 stainless steel guides with double-footed first two guides for durability, reflecting the company's saltwater rod DNA. The series fits bass anglers who want a durable, specialized casting tool at a price below the premium segment. Blanks are custom graphite/carbonite fiber blended with technique-specific tapers.

Guides are SS316 stainless, tangle-free design. The reel seat is a carbon fiber-infused custom unit with double-locking aluminum hoods. Handles feature ultra-dense EVA foam with rubberized cork sections, a combination made for durability and wet-hand grip. The lineup includes both full-grip and split-grip handle configurations, with split-grip as the standard on most models and full-grip as a variant option. Two compact "Shorty" models (BBRLMG17-58 and BBRLMG20-511) at 5'8" and 5'11" are distinct from the main 6'6"–7'9" range.

Thirteen models run 5'8"–7'9" and are all casting/baitcasting, all fast action. Line ratings span 6–40 lb across the series, covering light jig work (12 lb max) through heavy flipping (20–40 lb). Power ratings progress from M through H as line weight increases. The two heaviest models, BBRLMG30-73/76 (H, 15–30 lb) and BBRLMG40-79 (H, 20–40 lb), cover frogging, punching, and big-bait applications.

Deeper Dive

A closer look at notable models.

BBRLMG17-58 Casting · 5'8" · M

Shorty model at 5'8", the compact form factor suits kayak fishing, underbrush pitching, or confined boat spaces where a full-length rod is impractical. 8–17 lb range handles mid-weight jigs and soft plastics.

BBRLMG20-511 Casting · 5'11" · MH

Second Shorty model at 5'11", rated heavier than the 5'8" at 10–20 lb. The extra length and power make it viable for heavier jigs or punching light grass mats from tight quarters.

BBRLMG12-7 Casting · 7' · M · F action

Lightest-rated model in the standard-length lineup at 6–12 lb. M power fast action suits finesse casting techniques, shaky heads, small jigs, light spinnerbaits, where a baitcaster is preferred over spinning for accuracy.

BBRLMG20-74 Casting · 7'4" · MH

Mid-range model at 7'4", 10–20 lb, the longest of the 20 lb max rods. Slightly longer than the 7'3" 20 lb model (BBRLMG20-73), suggesting a swing jig or swim jig application where casting arc and pendulum swing benefit from the extra inch.

BBRLMG40-79 Casting · 7'9" · H · F action

Longest and most powerful model at 7'9" H Fast, 20–40 lb. Built for punching heavy vegetation, frogging, or big-swimbaits on heavy braid. The full 20–40 lb range accommodates 65–80 lb braid main line in dense cover.
