The Sniper-Elite is Bull Bay's premium inshore spinning rod, sitting above the Stealth-X in the lineup at $299.99. It serves the dedicated inshore saltwater angler who fishes artificial lures on flats, in marshes, and around structure for redfish, trout, snook, and flounder. The rod is assembled in Lakeland, Florida and shares a similar target application as the Stealth-X, but with upgraded components throughout, the series positions itself as the highest-performance non-custom option in the Bull Bay catalog. The blank uses 36-ton carbon fiber (same modulus designation as the Stealth-X) with strategic midsection layering that Bull Bay claims reduces overall blank weight by 20% versus the prior generation.
The key component upgrade over the Stealth-X is the guide set: American Tackle Ti-Forged SS316 tangle-free frames with Nanolite ceramic inserts, chosen over RECOIL on this model for smoother, lower-friction line flow during long casts. The Seaguide Air-K ultralight carbon reel seat is 30% lighter than standard aluminum reel seats and transmits vibration to the grip with less dampening. A BBR Round hook keeper is included. High-density EVA grips are retained from the Stealth-X platform. Identical model matrix to the Stealth-X: four spinning rods, two lengths (7' and 7'6"), two power ratings (M at 6–12 lb, MH at 8–17 lb), all fast action.
The lineup organization is strictly length-by-power, no technique-specific sub-models. This keeps the series simple: choose length based on fishing environment (7' for boat casting, 7'6" for wade fishing) and power based on target species (M for trout/lighter reds, MH for larger redfish and snook).
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Entry model in the Sniper-Elite series. 7' M/F on 6–12 lb covers speckled trout and smaller redfish presentations, light soft plastics, small gold spoons, and finesse paddle tails. Well-suited for boat fishing in tight marshes where a shorter rod is practical.
The top-end model, MH power at 7'6" for wade fishing or casting distance with heavier inshore lures. The 8–17 lb range handles most redfish scenarios. Longest and most powerful configuration; appropriate pairing would be a 3000–4000 size spinning reel.
