The Daiwa 23 Harrier SLJ is an entry-level super-light jigging (SLJ) series made for nearshore and shallow-water saltwater species, snapper, grouper, amberjack, sea bass, on jigs typically in the 20–100g range. The technique originated in Japan and uses spinning tackle to work small vertical jigs in 10–60m of water. Designed for both boat and kayak applications. Blanks use Daiwa's HVF NanoPlus carbon (high-volume fiber with nano particles for a lighter, more rigid tube), reinforced with X45 bias fiber wrap to resist ovalization under load.

Solid-carbon MEGATOP tips on spinning models provide extreme sensitivity for reading jig action and detecting subtle strikes through the tip. Tangle-free Fuji K-guides throughout. All models carry Regular action, keeping the tip responsive to jig movement while the blank provides enough backbone to lift fish. The 6'10" spinning models pair with 3000–5000 class saltwater spinning reels. Seven models: four 6'10" spinning rods in UL/L/ML/M power (jig ratings approximately 20–100g from lightest to heaviest) and three 6'6" casting (baitcasting) models in L/ML/M power.

The spinning group handles the conventional SLJ approach; the casting group gives anglers an alternative for anglers preferring low-profile reels and heavier line control in tighter situations. All models single-piece construction.
