The 23 Tatula Elite AGS is Daiwa's flagship bass-specific rod series, designed for tournament-level freshwater anglers demanding maximum sensitivity and minimum weight. The "23" denotes the 2023 generation. All 12 models cover casting and spinning across a wide range of bass techniques, finesse spinning, crankbaits, jigs, frogs, topwaters, and heavy power fishing, making it a full-spectrum technique-matched lineup. Models carry pro angler technique associations within the Daiwa team. Blanks use Daiwa's SVF Nano Plus construction, which uses high-strength SVF (Super Volume Fiber) carbon with reduced resin content, resulting in blanks approximately 5% lighter than the previous generation.
X45 bias-fiber wrapping eliminates blank twist under load and adds torsional strength. The key feature is the AGS (Air Guide System), carbon fiber guide frames that are approximately 40% lighter than standard titanium or stainless frames and transfer vibration more directly to the grip for enhanced bite detection. The Air Sensor reel seat is carbon-framed for the same sensitivity benefit. Note: AGS carbon frames are more impact-sensitive than metal frames; Daiwa warns against passing leader knots through the guides. The 12 models span 7'1" to 8'0" and split into six casting (B suffix) and six spinning (S suffix) configurations.
Spinning covers ML through M power at 4–14 lb line; casting covers M through H power at 10–55 lb. The 8'0" TTEL801HXB is the longest and most powerful casting model, rated Extra-Fast at H power for 1/2–2 oz lures, likely a frog or punching rod. The 7'6" ML spinning at 4–10 lb is the lightest option for drop shots and finesse presentations.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
XH power with unusually broad lure range (3/16–1.5 oz); likely a jig and heavy finesse hybrid, capable of pitching swimbaits at the top end or working lighter finesse jigs at the bottom.
Heavy casting model at 30–55 lb braid; built for flipping heavy cover, punching matted vegetation, or working big swimbaits in thick grass. The highest line-weight rating in the series.
The narrowest line-weight window in the series (12–16 lb), suggesting a precise technique match, likely a specific crankbait or mid-depth reaction bait application where blank load characteristics were dialed to a tight range.
Lightest-rated model in the series; ML power at 4–10 lb for finesse drop shots, Ned rigs, and small shaky heads. The 7'6" length aids casting distance on ultralight setups.
Longest and Extra-Fast at 8' H power; designed for long-distance frog presentations or power pitching situations requiring maximum reach and instant hookset leverage.
