The 23 Tatula Elite AGS is Daiwa's pro-signature bass casting series, each model is developed with and assigned to a specific tournament angler, making the series a collection of technique-specific rods instead of a conventional power/length matrix. The series serves competitive tournament bass anglers and enthusiasts who want rods based on singular techniques instead of general-purpose versatility. All blanks use SVF Nano-Plus carbon, micro-pitch manufacturing that adds compression during blank curing, yielding approximately 5% less mass than prior generations without sacrificing strength.
The defining component is the AGS (Air Guide System) carbon fiber guide frames, which are 40% lighter than standard Fuji titanium guides. Weight reduction at the tip translates directly to improved blank sensitivity and reduced swing fatigue on long days. The Daiwa Airsensor reel seat is paired throughout for lightweight, low-profile reel connection. X45 bias fiber wrapping controls blank twist. Within the four-model subset, three are casting and one is spinning, with technique designations embedded in the model specs.
The four models in this subset span 6'10" to 7'6". Three are MH or M power casting rods covering different bass techniques, a jerkbait rod, a cranking rod, and an XF-action versatility rod. The 7'6" ML spinning model (TTEL761MLMFS-AGS) fills the drop-shot and finesse ned rig role. The casting rods use Regular-to-XF actions tuned per technique; the MRB designation signals moderate-regular-blank construction specific to the assigned presentation.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Designated jerkbait model (Patrick Walters collaboration). 6'10" M power with regular action provides enough tip to work the rod during pause-and-twitch sequences while maintaining feel on the snap. 12–20 lb fluoro range is standard jerkbait territory.
Designated cranking model (Takahiro Omori). The 'G' suffix indicates glass composite element in the blank for the characteristic load-and-cushion crankbait feel, pairing carbon sensitivity with glass forgiveness. MH power handles medium-to-deep divers.
XF (extra-fast) action is the outlier in this batch, pairs MH power with an extremely fast taper for immediate hookset on lighter presentations like bladed jigs, vibrating jigs, and shaky heads. The broad lure range (1/8–1 oz) reflects its versatility role.
The finesse spinning model. 7'6" ML/F covers drop-shot, ned rig, and finesse shaky head on 5–12 lb light line. Longest rod in the subset; the extra length helps manage light leaders and improves hookset geometry on deep drop-shot presentations.
