The Daiwa 24 CDN (Canadian) is a freshwater multi-technique series built specifically for Canadian market conditions, covering bass, walleye, trout, salmon, and steelhead in a single lineup. Construction uses Daiwa's HVF (High Volume Fiber) blank technology with V-Joint multi-piece ferrule, aluminum oxide ring guides, and cork handles. HVF blanks reduce resin content relative to fiber, resulting in lighter and more sensitive blanks compared to standard graphite at this price tier.
MSRP starts around $109 CAD. The breadth of the lineup makes it a general Canadian freshwater catalog. The lineup is notable for its range: it includes both short freshwater bass models (6'4"–7'5") and long specialized rods, 9', 9'6", 11'6", and 13' models in R (regular/parabolic) action on ML or MH power. The R-action long rods are identifiable as steelhead/salmon float and drift rods. The CDN-tagged steelhead models include a 9'0" casting rod (CDN902MHRB) and three spinning rods.
The shorter models (6'4"–7'5") run F, MF, and XF actions. The 18-model lineup contains 4 casting and 14 spinning rods. The bulk of the series (10 models) spans 6'4"–7'5" in M/ML/MH power for general lure fishing. Three long-range float/drift spinning rods (11'6", 13') and two 9' rods are the specialty steelhead segment. One XF-action rod (CDN642MHXS) and one XF casting rod (CDN702MXB) stand out as jig-sensitivity models in the shorter end.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The only XF spinning rod in the series and unusually short at 6'4" for MH power. Suggests a soft-plastic or jig presentation where sensitivity and power are prioritized over length.
The heaviest rod in the short-format casting segment. H power on a 7'5" blank pushes into pike and musky territory or frogging applications in the Canadian context.
11'6" float rod counterpart; shorter and more manageable on tighter rivers while still providing the length for float control. Paired with the 13' model as the float fishing segment of the CDN series.
The longest rod in the series at 13'. Regular (parabolic) action on a long, light blank is specialized for float fishing steelhead on large rivers, mending line and maintaining float presentation at range.
