The 24 Fuego Series Bass is Daiwa's refreshed entry-to-mid-range freshwater bass rod lineup introduced at ICAST 2024. It serves recreational and club-level bass anglers looking for a capable technique-keyed rod at an accessible price point. The series received updated aesthetics and a new reel seat design compared to the prior Fuego generation, while maintaining straightforward construction appropriate for everyday fishing instead of tournament-specific applications. Blanks are lightweight graphite, Daiwa has unpublished specific modulus ratings for this series; construction is consistent with a value-oriented freshwater bass lineup.
Guides are aluminum oxide inserts in stainless frames, standard for this price range. Handles are EVA split-grip. The new reel seat design is noted in brand communications as an update for the 2024 release. No X45 or AGS technology is included, distinguishing this from Daiwa's upper-tier bass lines. All 16 models are freshwater bass rods spanning 6'6" to 7'6" in UL through XH power. Spinning models (10 rods) heavily emphasize the 6'6"–7'4" M/F range for finesse through medium applications. Casting models (6 rods) run 7'–7'6" in MH through XH.
The FGO761XHFB (7'6" XH/F, 12–25 lb) is the series' heavy-cover option, a flipping or punching-class casting rod. The FGO721MXS-B (7'2" M/XF spinning) is the only extra-fast spinning model, suited for techniques requiring instant sensitivity like drop-shot or shaky head on light line. Several models share similar specs (e. g. FGO701MFS-B and FGO702MFS-B at 7' M/F spinning) suggesting handle or length variation instead of different blanks.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Lightest model in the series at UL/F; 3–8 lb line for light finesse applications. The low floor of 1/16 oz enables drop-shot and neko-rig use. Entry point for anglers made for panfish alongside bass.
The only extra-fast spinning rod in the lineup; 7'2" M/XF on 6–15 lb provides maximum tip sensitivity for bottom-contact techniques (drop-shot, shaky head, Ned rig) where immediate bite transmission on light line is the goal.
Heaviest model in the series at XH/F; 12–25 lb casting line with a 1.5 oz lure max. Designed for heavy cover flipping, punch rigs, and large soft-plastic presentations where backbone and hook-set leverage are critical.
