The 2025 Saltiga Trolling series is Daiwa's flagship offshore trolling rod lineup, made for serious blue-water anglers made for billfish, large tuna, wahoo, and similar pelagic species from sportfishing boats. Actions and blank construction are calibrated for flat-line, outrigger, and downrigger trolling with lipped lures and rigged baits at typical trolling speeds. Blanks use Glatech construction, fiberglass core sandwiched between inner and outer high-strength graphite layers, providing the progressive load absorption trolling demands without catastrophic tip failure.

3DX external carbon weave adds lateral stiffness and resilience under rod-angle changes during the fight. X45 bias fiber wrapping reduces blank twist. Guides are Alps roller top with SeaGuide XRG frame zirconia ring guides, rated for the shock loads and line heat of big-game runs. MSRP $549.99; 5-year limited warranty. Five models, all casting (conventional), 6'1" and 7'0" lengths. The 6'1" trio covers MH/H/XH power in fast action for snappy hook sets when trolling at speed.

The 7'0" H in regular action provides cushion for softer-mouthed species or when fishing dropback patterns. The 7'0" XH fast is the stand-up rod for the most powerful applications, 80–150 lb line. Lineup spans 30–150 lb line weight, covering most tournament blue-water scenarios.

A closer look at notable models.

SGTR61XH Casting · 6'1" · XH · F action

Short and stiff with 80–130 lb line, suited to straight-up chair or standup work on heavy tackle, particularly marlin and large yellowfin. The compact 6'1" length translates rod angle to reel handle more efficiently in a fighting harness.

SGTR70H Casting · 7' · H · R action

Only regular-action rod in the series. The softer tip versus the fast-action siblings makes it the choice for live-bait or natural-bait trolling where resistance-free pickup matters, or for species with soft mouths prone to tearing on hard hook sets.

SGTR70XH Casting · 7' · XH · F action

Heaviest application in the series at 80–150 lb. The extra foot of length versus the SGTR61XH provides more leverage at the tip for boat-side control on large billfish. Both XH models overlap in line class but serve different fighting positions.
