The Daiwa Ardito-TR Muskie/Pike Travel Rod series is built for large-lure predator fishing, specifically muskie and pike, in a five-piece travel format. Both models are 8'5" casting rods rated for 65-100 lb braid and designed to handle oversize lures. The series fits anglers who want to pursue trophy freshwater predators on destination trips without shipping rods or risking airline-checked gear. Blanks use Daiwa's X-45 bias-fiber construction, in which carbon fiber is laid at 45-degree angles to resist blank twisting under heavy load, relevant when fighting large fish or casting heavy muskie lures repeatedly.
V-Flex Ferrule joints are positioned to bend with the rod, maintaining a smooth power curve through the blank despite the five-piece configuration. Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides are specified throughout. The travel case is semi-rigid for rod protection without excessive bulk. The two-model lineup is differentiated by power only: both are 8'5" with Regular action and five sections. The ARDT855HRB-TR is Heavy power with a maximum lure weight of 15 oz; the ARDT855XHRB-TR steps up to Extra-Heavy with a 18 oz maximum.
The XH model is the choice for the largest muskie presentations, glide baits, large bucktails, big swimbaits. Both rods share the same blank architecture and are priced comparably in the Ardito premium tier.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The XH model handles lures up to 18 oz, appropriate for the largest glide baits and bucktails used in dedicated muskie fishing. The added backbone versus the H model is the determining factor when throwing oversized presentations all day or fighting fish in heavy cover.
