Beefstick

The Daiwa Beefstick (BSS series) is a saltwater boat rod built for anglers who need durability over finesse, bottom fishing, pier fishing, and general nearshore duty where fiberglass resilience matters more than weight savings. The lineup covers medium through extra-heavy power with a consistent extra-fast action, suitable for live-bait, cut-bait, and heavier lure work from boats or docks. Intended for vertical or short-range presentations where bend recovery and pull strength are the priority.

Blanks are solid fiberglass, virtually indestructible but deliberately sacrificing sensitivity and mass. Titanium oxide guides, stainless hooded reel seat, and EVA grips are utilitarian components appropriate for salt exposure. Both casting (B suffix) and spinning (S suffix) configurations share identical length and power specs within the lineup, making the split a reel-preference decision instead of a technique one. No proprietary blank technology is advertised beyond the fiberglass construction.

All 10 models sit at 7 feet except the 6'6" XH casting entry and one 8' spinning outlier. Powers run M through XH on both casting and spinning sides. The 8' BSS802MS is the lone departure in length, suited to extended reach from elevated positions. The XH models (661XHB, 701XHB) handle 20–40lb line, positioning them for larger bottom species or heavy mono/braid applications.
