Coastal Sp Surf

The Daiwa Coastal SP (Salt Pro) Surf is an all-spinning surf series sold as a mid-price entry point for West Coast and Gulf Coast beach fishing. Serves include surfperch, halibut, striped bass, and general surf species reachable with hard baits and metal jigs. The series runs from 7' to 12', the shorter models (7'–9') work for close-in wade fishing or jetty use, while the 11'–12' H-power models are distance tools for open sand. All models share a lightweight graphite blank with a fast action taper and Daiwa's X-Wrap reinforcement at the grip section to resist blank twist under casting load.

Guides are aluminum oxide inserts in corrosion-resistant frames, adequate for braid and mono, outside the match for premium SiC lane. The ergonomic EVA reel seat and split grip keep weight low. Action is consistently fast across the lineup, which suits hard jerkbaits and metal jigs but is less ideal for chunk bait and live bait fishing that benefits from softer parabolic tips. Durability reports are mixed; connection joint breakage under full casting load has been noted by multiple users.

Eleven spinning-only models span 7'–12' across M, MH, and H power ratings. Organization follows a simple length-and-power grid: M power at 7'–10'6" handles 10–20lb / 1–4oz, MH versions at similar lengths step up to 15–40lb / 3–8oz, and the 11'–12' H models top out at 20–50lb / 3–10oz.
