Dragger MX arrived in 2025 as the harbor-focused grade, twelve models built around lightness rather than maximum lifting power. Daiwa's stated aim is a tip that stays light in the hand across a long session, which is what breakwater and port shore jigging demands: hundreds of casts with 50 to 90 gram jigs rather than a handful of heaves from a rock ledge. Shore jigging is the Japanese practice of casting metal from the bank for pelagic fish that push bait within range, principally buri and hiramasa amberjack, sawara, dorado and bonito, worked with a jerk-and-fall retrieve. Surf and jetty casting for striped bass and false albacore is the closest American analogue, with heavier metal and a more aggressive rod stroke. Nine spinning and three baitcasting models span 2.82 to 3.23 m. The 93ML and 100ML take jigs to 50 g and plugs to 45 g on PE up to 2.0; 96M, 103M, 106M and 103MB run to 70 g jigs and PE 2.5; 96MH, 100MH and 106MHB reach 90 g jigs and PE 3.0; 96H, 100H and 107HB carry 110 g jigs and PE 4.0. Rod weights run 210 to 321 g. The plug number always sits below the jig number because a plug of equal mass has more bulk in the air and more drag in the water. Blanks are HVF carbon built with X45 bias-cross construction, fitted with an Air Sensor reel seat and K guides with a SiC top ring.
