SLSJ stands for super light shore jigging, the finesse end of the Japanese shore jigging scene. Where a full shore jigging outfit throws 100 gram metal on PE 3 to 5 for adult buri and hiramasa amberjack, SLSJ works jigs of 10 to 30 grams on PE 0.4 to 1.0 for the smaller fish running the same breakwaters and rock edges: juvenile yellowtail, mackerel, small bonito, sawara and hard-bottom species. The outfit sits close to an eging or light inshore spinning setup, and the American equivalent is light jetty casting for false albacore and schoolie stripers rather than a heavy surf rod. Dragger X SLSJ is the entry version of that concept, three models all rated to a 30 gram jig with PE 0.4 to 1.0. The 2.54 m 84M weighs 109 g and is the short technical stick for close work. The 2.84 m 94M at 127 g is the distance model for fish moving off the wall. The 2.82 m 93M-S at 125 g carries a solid tip that will load and cast jigs under 10 grams. Daiwa describes the action as orthodox, meaning casting timing and jerk rhythm are easy to find, which is the point of an entry rod. These print a jig rating only, with no separate plug figure. Blanks combine HVF carbon with X45 bias construction and Braiding X carbon tape at the butt section, fitted with Alconite-ring K guides sized for thin braid and a VSS reel seat.
