Ikametal is boat squid fishing after dark. Lamps over the water pull squid up through the column and the angler works a metal sutte, a weighted lure ringed with barbs, on a short rod held with the tip low. Ratings are given twice, in grams and in the Japanese 号 sizes, at roughly 3.75 g per 号, so 25号 is about 95 g. A related rig, omorig, hangs a sinker on the main line with an egi on a long leader and is cast rather than dropped. Emeraldas EX Ikametal is the flagship, nine models across three concepts. N is the loading taper that waits out the squid's touch, K is the hooking taper long associated with Daiwa tester Toru Iwaki, and OR is built for omorig and heavy sutte with a lengthened rear grip to brace under the arm. Lengths run 5'6" to 7'0", blank weights 73 to 90 g, sutte ratings 20 to 150 g or 5 to 40号, and line PE 0.4 to 1.0 throughout, with no power scale involved. Six models are baitcasting, three spinning. Tips are the argument here: SMT superelastic titanium alloy solids on most models, SMTT tubular metal tops on the two omorig spinning rods, and a MegaTop carbon solid on the N67LB TG. AGS carbon guides, X45 Full Shield, V-JOINT alpha ferrules, ZERO SEAT on bait and Air Sensor slim on spinning complete the build.
