The basic tier of Daiwa's ikametal range, twelve models and the widest coverage in the family. Ikametal is the night boat fishery for squid worked on metal sutte, weighted barbed lures whose sizes are quoted both in grams and in Japanese 号 units; the fishery has drifted steadily heavier as it spread, and this series answers that with rods rated to 40号, around 150 g. Lengths run 4'10" to 7'0" and blank weights 72 to 86 g. Concepts follow the family pattern: N for the loading taper that keeps the sutte hanging naturally, K for the fast hooking taper, OR for omorig and heavy metal on a lengthened rear grip. Nine models take a baitcaster and three a spinning reel, all on PE 0.4 to 1.0, with sutte classes rather than power letters doing the sorting. Two variants, the N65LB-GS and K56ULB-GS, swap the MegaTop carbon solid for a glass solid tip, which bends more visibly under a light touch and suits anglers watching the tip rather than feeling it. Blanks are HVF carbon with X45 bias reinforcement and a V-JOINT ferrule. Reel seats are the same ZERO SEAT cavity trigger and Air Sensor Slim Fit parts used on the EX and AIR series, and the baitcasting models run KW guides.
