Eging is the Japanese method of casting an egi, a weighted artificial shrimp, and working it with sharp upward jerks separated by a controlled sink. The main target is aori-ika, the bigfin reef squid, which almost always grabs the egi during the fall and registers at the rod tip as a tick or as line that simply stops paying out. Stoist sits at the top of the Emeraldas ladder above AIR, MX and X. ST stands for Stream Tune and is deliberately the more supple of the two Stoist platforms, tuned to read current and hold a squid rather than to drive a hookset the way the Racing Tune RT does. Eight models run 6'5" to 8'8" and 77 to 95 g. Six are shore rods rated on the Japanese 号 scale, where one 号 is roughly 3 cm of egi body length, so the 1.8号 to 4.5号 spread covers egi of about 55 to 135 mm. Two are boat models rated in grams instead: the 65M TG at 30 to 90 g and the 70MMH-S at 50 to 150 g, both developed for large squid taken from a drifting boat in southern waters. Blanks are SVF Nanoplus with X45 Full Shield bias carbon and V-Joint alpha ferrules, running AGS carbon-frame guides, CWS guide wraps and an Air Sensor carbon reel seat. Four models carry SMT titanium-alloy solid tips; the 73L-S and 65M TG use carbon solids, and the 82ML-5 is the first five-piece rod in the Stoist family.
