Heartland is Daiwa Japan's bass rod family, launched in 1997, and the AGS branch is its top shelf: the models built around Air Guide System guides, whose carbon frames Daiwa rates at roughly three times the rigidity of a titanium frame while removing weight from the tip. Product development is credited to Haruhiko Murakami, who has shaped the Heartland line since its start. Model names read as Japanese phrases (Saekake, Shingiri, Shippu) alongside the spec code.
The 11 rods split seven spinning and four baitcasting, spanning 6'10" to 8'5". Blanks use SVF Compile-X graphite, with SVF Compile-X Nano Plus on the 6112ULRFS-SV AGS24, reinforced by X45 and X45 Full Shield bias carbon against blank twist. Two tip constructions appear: MegaTop solid carbon, and SMT titanium alloy on the 6101ULLX/RS-SMT16 only. V-Joint ferrules and Carbon Wrapping System component mounts are used through the line.
Coverage runs from 1/64 to 1/8 oz spinning work on 1.5 to 3 lb line up to a 7'5" baitcaster rated 3/8 to 1 oz, with a 7'7" model at 1/8 to 1/2 oz covering the middle. Rod weights are low for the lengths, from 58 g on the 6'11" spinning model to 160 g on the heaviest casting stick. Most are two-piece, split either at the center or at the grip. Against the standard Heartland series, the AGS rods carry the higher graphite grade and the carbon guides.
