Kamuy Ranke Tam takes its name from Ainu, which Daiwa renders as a sword sent down by the gods. The series is built for the Hokkaido shore fishery for sea-run char (ame masu) and sea-run cherry salmon (sakura masu), fish taken from surf beaches and rocky coast in cold, wind-driven conditions where casting distance and blank control matter more than finesse. Three models, all spinning: 106L+/M AGS at 3.20 m (10'6"), two-piece, 5 to 40 g, PE 0.6 to 1.5 or 6 to 14 lb, 159 g; 109ML/M+ AGS at 3.28 m (10'9"), two-piece, 7 to 50 g, PE 0.8 to 2.0 or 8 to 16 lb, 179 g; and 121XH at 3.68 m (12'1"), three-piece, 40 to 80 g, PE 1.5 to 2.0 or 12 to 25 lb, 318 g. The two shorter rods use AGS carbon-frame guides. The 121XH adds 3DX honeycomb structure for cast recovery and is the distance and heavy-lure tool of the three. Series-wide construction is SVF Nanoplus carbon with X45 Full Shield bias wrapping and V-JOINT alpha ferrules, on Air Sensor reel seats specified per model. Daiwa states the rods were developed through field testing in Hokkaido.
