The standard-grade rod in Daiwa's tairaba family, ten models. The fishery it serves is a Japanese invention with no US equivalent: a skirted rubber jig, head and silicone skirt and rubber tentacles, is dropped to the seabed and retrieved at one steady speed for madai, red seabream. Because the fish takes in a series of pecks rather than a single grab, the blank is tuned to keep bending through the bite. Five concept codes are covered. N is the loading taper, K the hooking taper, D the electric-reel and deep-drift rod, C the spinning caster, TJ the tai-jigging rod. Lengths run 5'10" to 6'10", blank weights 97 to 115 g, jig ratings 20 to 350 g and PE 0.5 to 1.5, with eight baitcasting models against two spinning. Every model except the TJ carries a MegaTop carbon-solid tip, the fibre-and-resin solid that bends evenly in any direction and shows the bite visually as well as through the hand. Blanks are HVF Nanoplus with a Braiding X carbon tape wrap on the butt section to resist twist. All ten are centre-cut two-piece for transport. Reel seats change by type: an original bait seat on the N and K rods, a Fuji PULS seat on the electric D model, an oval seat on the C and TJ spinning rods.
