Kyoga AIR

Tachiuo, the largescale hairtail or beltfish, is a long silver predator with a mouthful of blades that holds well off the bottom in open water and is fished from boats on metal jigs. Bites are often no more than a change in weight partway through a jerk, and the fish shears leaders, so the discipline gets purpose-built tackle rather than borrowed jigging rods. Kyoga is Daiwa's tachiuo brand and Kyoga AIR is the high-standard tier, three baitcasting models built around distinct tip materials. The 58B is 5'8" and 115 g, a short tubular rod set up for close, precise jig work with a soft tip over a stiff butt; it was developed with the skipper of a Tokyo Bay charter operation. The 64B-METAL is 6'4" and 120 g, with a superelastic titanium alloy Metal Top for the nibbling bites and a fast-ish belly for quick hooksets. The 62B TG is 6'2" and 123 g on a MegaTop carbon-solid core Thrill Game blank that bends further and holds a hooked fish. All three are rated MAX 180 g of jig on PE 0.6 to 1.5, carry no power letter at all, and are two-piece with the joint in the butt. AGS carbon guides, X45 bias reinforcement and HVF Nanoplus carbon are common to the series, which is finished in the purple Kyoga livery.
