BS stands for boat seabass, and the difference from a shore seabass rod is mostly length. A shore rod is 9 to 11 feet because the angler has to reach water from a bank or a jetty. On a boat the captain positions the hull on the fish, so casts are short and aimed, at bridge shadow lines, pilings and surface bait, and the rod is worked from a standing deck at chest height rather than swung two-handed. Lengths here collapse to 1.93 m to 2.18 m, or 6'4" to 7'2", across seven models. Four are spinning (67MLS, 64MS, 69MS, 72MHS) and three are baitcasting (68MB, 67HB, 66XHB), the S and B suffixes marking the reel type. Ratings run from 5 to 25 g and PE 0.6 to 1.2 on the lightest spinning stick up to a MAX 130 g, PE 2.0 to 5.0 rating on 66XHB for large plugs and heavy vertical work. Blanks weigh 84 g to 123 g. This is Daiwa's top boat seabass series, with Lateo BS as the standard-grade equivalent below it. Construction is AGS carbon-framed guides, HVF Nanoplus carbon, X45 Full Shield covering the outer layer against twist, and an Air Sensor carbon reel seat. The current generation was rebuilt around open-water lure manipulation rather than pure spot casting, with butt power raised accordingly.
