Branzino is the top tier of Daiwa's Morethan seabass program, and the EX AGS generation is its spinning flagship. Nine two-piece models span 2.62 m to 3.30 m, roughly 8'7" to 10'10", with lure windows running from 5-30 g on the 87LML to 12-45 g on the 94MMH and line ratings of PE 0.6 to 2.0. Blanks are SVF COMPILE-X Nanoplus graphite wrapped in X45 Full Shield bias carbon and joined with V-JOINT alpha ferrules; guides are Daiwa's AGS carbon frames, bound to the blank with CWS carbon cloth instead of thread, over an Air Sensor carbon reel seat. The 87LML weighs 97 g built. The 87LML and 94ML are the Urban Side Custom harbor models developed with Yuki Ohno, the 98M/MH is the Power Stream Custom for estuary work with large plugs, and the 1010ML/M is the distance rod. The quarry is suzuki, Japanese seabass, and the fishing happens mostly after dark: minnows and vibration baits swung through harbor light lines, breakwater rip, surf, and the current seams that form at river mouths on a moving tide. A suzuki runs, bores for structure, and throws hooks with a violent headshake, so the closest American reference point is striped bass off a beach or a jetty. The gram and PE ratings are shelf convention rather than translation: Japanese lures are sold by gram weight and braid is graded by PE number, so the rod is labeled to match the tackle an angler actually buys.
