The Outrage is Daiwa's offshore jigging/popping rod series covering vertical jigging, slow-pitch jigging, and surface popping from a boat. Target species are powerful offshore pelagics: tuna, amberjack, grouper, GT. The OTR prefix indicates the main offshore jigging/popping models; ORS prefix models carry no line rating in the provided data and appear to be a distinct slow-pitch sub-line. Blanks use HVF Nanoplus graphite with X45 bias-wrap construction for reduced twist under load.
Fuji K-guides are used on jigging and slow-pitch models; Fuji MN guides are exclusive to the popping models to handle the higher ring wear from repeated distance casting. EVA foam grips throughout. The Outrage line is positioned above Daiwa's Saltiga in the US market for some segments. The 20-rod lineup divides into three functional groups. OTR core models (12 rods) span 5'8" to 8'2" in M through XXH power, available in both bait (B suffix) and spinning (S suffix) versions.
The 8'2" XHF and HF models at the top of the spinning stack are outliers with fast action and no published lure/line ratings in the data, likely popping-oriented. ORS slow-pitch models (5 rods, B/S) are 5'8" to 7'6", powers H through XXH, with regular action and no published line ratings. The two 8'2" fast-action spinning models at the end of the lineup appear specialized for casting poppers.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Short conventional jigging model. At 5'8" with H power and 65-120lb line, this is suited for vertical jigging in deep water from a stand-up position, where shorter blanks transfer energy more directly than longer models.
Heaviest conventional model in the series, 14+ oz lure ceiling. No line rating is listed. This is positioned for very heavy tuna or large amberjack jigging with oversized jigs in deep water.
Longest slow-pitch model in the ORS sub-line, at 7'6" XXH with no line or lure rating in the data. The added length in slow-pitch applications maximizes jig flutter and glide time during the fall phase.
One of two long fast-action spinning models at the top of the lineup with no published line or lure rating. Fast action at 8'2" is consistent with a surface popper/stickbait application requiring long casts; Daiwa confirms MN guides on popping models.
