Outrage J

Conventional vertical jigging in the high-standard Outrage tier. This is the fast, upright style American anglers know as speed or high-pitch jigging: the angler works one-pitch jerks with the rod while the reel gathers line, unlike the fall-driven slow-pitch style of the SJ series. All seven models are one-piece blanks, which Daiwa says was chosen for strength and taper continuity, and their closed length equals their full length of 1.83 to 1.91 m. Four are spinning (J63S-2.5, J63S-3, J61S-4, J61S-5) and three are conventional (J62B-2.5, J62B-3, J60B-4), running 6'0" to 6'3". Ratings are jig grams and PE class rather than a power letter: MAX 160 g and PE 2.5 at the light end through MAX 260 g and PE 5 at the top, with recommended depth bands of 30 to 80 m up to 80 to 160 m. Rod weights run 157 to 200 g. The blank is HVF Nanoplus with X45, spinning models use the lightweight Air Sensor seat also fitted to Saltiga R, and Daiwa states this saved 25 g against the equivalent Catalina model. Conventional models use a Fuji TCS seat with a straight butt for underarm jerking.
