The Daiwa Outrage XV is an offshore saltwater jigging and popping series designed for anglers made for reef and open-water pelagic species globally. The series addresses multiple offshore techniques, standard speed jigging, slow pitch jigging, light jigging, and surface popping, within a single product family at a mid-range $249.99 price point. Target species include amberjack, trevally, grouper, tuna, and bottom-dwelling snapper. Blanks are graphite-based, reinforced with Daiwa's Braiding X, a cross-weave graphite layer that resists blank twist when working heavy jigs.
Fuji Tangle Free K-guides prevent line wrapping during the lift-and-drop jigging retrieve. Custom Daiwa reel seats provide solid reel lock under sustained rod-pump load. The series includes both conventional (casting) and spinning configurations across the four technique groups. The 16-model lineup divides by technique suffix: standard jigging models (ORXV58XXHB through ORXV66XHS, 6 models, 5'8"–6'6") cover heavy-to-extra-heavy power for deep jigging and popping; LJ (light jigging) models (ORXV62M and ORXV63ML in both casting and spinning) carry explicit lure weight ranges of 2–7 oz for shallower species; SLOW models (four 6'3" rods, M/MH/H/XH) are specialized for slow pitch technique; and the 7'9" MH spinning model is the lone popper/surface iron dedicated build.

A closer look at notable models.
The shortest, heaviest model in the lineup. A 5'8" XXH conventional is specialized for vertical deep jigging over structure at great depths, where short length aids direct pump power and XXH backbone drives large jigs on heavy braid.
Light jigging casting model with an explicit lure range of 2 7/8–7 oz. Serves shallower reef species, snappers, smaller grouper, and AJs, with lighter metal jigs fished at reduced depths compared to the standard jigging models.
Medium-power slow pitch entry. Slow pitch jigging relies on a parabolic blank that loads under the jig's weight and snaps back to impart flutter action, the softer M-power taper in a 6'3" length accommodates mid-depth serves where lighter jigs work best.
XH slow pitch for deeper water or heavier jigs. Maintains the controlled parabolic loading philosophy of slow pitch at higher power to handle larger jigs in deeper columns or stronger currents.
The only dedicated popping model at 7'9" MH spinning. The longer blank enables long-distance surface casts with poppers and stickbaits for tuna and trevally. MAX 100g lure weight sets the upper casting limit for the blank's loading curve.
