Over There SX slots between the standard Over There and the EX, and Daiwa launched it in April 2026 as the lightest surf rod the company has built. Eight models run 147 to 187 g across 2.97 to 3.30 m (about 9 ft 9 in to 10 ft 10 in), at 99 percent carbon content, rated 7 to 70 g for lures and PE 0.8 to 2.5. Six are spinning; 103ML/MB and 106MHB are baitcasting. Construction is SVF carbon with X45 bias cross-ply, a V-Joint ferrule, AGS carbon-frame guides and an Air Sensor reel seat, so the technology list tracks the EX while the blank material stops short of Nanoplus. Weight is the argument here: a beach session is several hundred casts across a tide window, and grams saved in the guide frames and reel seat show up as swing speed in the last hour. The fishery behind the numbers is lure casting from sand for hirame (olive flounder), magochi (flathead) and running fish such as mackerel and small tuna. It shares almost nothing with the bait-and-lead surfcasting the phrase suggests in the United States. Picture instead a beach angler throwing 30 g metals and 5-inch swimbaits for fluke and stripers, on a blank long enough to keep line off the wave face. Gram lure ratings and PE line sizes are the Japanese standard, so PE 1.0 to 2.5 corresponds roughly to 20 to 40 lb braid.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 8 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
